Unreal Technical Artist

We're looking for a Vancouver based Unreal Technical Artist who has experience with the Maya/Unreal pipeline. The ideal candidate will know how to move assets to and from each program as well be able to assist the pipeline team in establishing tools and workflows for the studio.

Responsibilities: 

  • Work within the current set pipeline and help identify efficiency in workflow in and out of Unreal Engine 4
  • Design and create shots from scripts and/or storyboards, using cinematic language to tell a story
  • Get assets from Maya to Unreal
  • Light and output shots from Unreal for Cinematics or Game Trailers
  • Look Dev shader setups for Props, Environments and Characters using a pre-defined look, done the traditional way
  • Create previs and layout sequences in Unreal Engine 4 from key or mocap data
  • Translate a script visually into a sequence
  • Take creative direction from client notes

Requirements:

  • Expert Maya and Unreal knowledge
  • A strong understanding of the Maya to Unreal pipeline from exporting to optimization to best practices is a must
  • Highly motivated and contributes to a positive working environment
  • Familiarity with motion capture, virtual production, and camera tracking
  • Experienced with Substance Painter/Designer
  • Zbrush experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of Scripting languages such as Python and C++
  • Experience with Shotgun software is an asset
